April Lockhart
April Lockhart (born July 4 in 1995) began her musical journey as a 7th grader when she took guitar and piano classes. In the seventh grade April started taking guitar and piano lessons. This ignited her interest to write songs. As April approached 14 years old, she dedicated an enormous amount of time developing song ideas as well as perfecting the song. After a while, she began to travel with her dad and write either in NY as well as LA. April was also able to add other themes in the tune "Take My Hand" for a few of her friends who dealt with problems like peer pressure, issues, or even teens who committed suicide. Lockhart is a lifestyle and beauty influencer who has a growing following. She works with popular brand Ilia together, and is also a specialist in lifestyle. Since she was born without a left hand, the woman has a significant part to play in her. It's however not the only thing she has to tell. Lockhart doesn't deny her disability on Instagram, but she doesn't make it the focus of her story. The message? We all have multiple aspects that our identities are complex and that we are greater than the physical person we are. Lockhart stated in a video interview that she doesn't wish to be defined solely by her handicap. She doesn't want to be a disability advocate who only talks about disability. There are a lot of aspects to Lockhart. It doesn't impact my day-to-day living. I still do all my normal activities and I've adapted to the limitations of my disability. But, I consider that it is a crucial part of myself. Lockhart inspires us to keep striving to be self-accepting. Lockhart admits to having gone through phases where she felt insecure about wearing certain clothing styles which displayed her arms. Now, though she dons anything she likes and uploads images of her outfits to social media with pride. One of the keys to self-love for her is that it's not a goal. The same is true for everybody, no matter what their levels of anxiety. It is important to have people around you who are aware of and understand the way you feel. They'll be the ones asking you: What do you think about?
